The
First Palestinian Diaspora
"By May
15 1948 hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees from scores of
Palestinian towns and hundreds of Palestinian villages had been scattered
to the four winds in the neighbouring Arab countries."
Walid
Khalidi in Before Their Diaspora
The Palestinian Diaspora Centre exists purely as a virtual centre.
While there is no Palestinian Diaspora Centre offices, phone numbers,
street names or any other form of "real" evidence of its existence,
it has a definite presence all over the world. Wherever there are Palestinians
there exists the Palestinian Diaspora and therefore will be the Diaspora
Centre. This can only be achieved through the involvement of every one
of us. As Arabs, it is important we create an active community that
will never forget the injustices Palestinians have to endure. It is
important that we continue to struggle for a future of peace, freedom
and most importantly justice.
The aim of this Centre is to provide a global network of Arab / Palestinian
people, activists, organisations and movements as well as any other
sympathetic or friendly groups that is willing to stand by us and fight
for Palestinian and Arab rights throughout the world. In abstract terms,
it is an attempt to maintain and reinforce the imagined global Arabic
community, especially amongst the Palestinians of the Diaspora.
